A Closer Look At Chorus, The Next-Generation Publishing Platform That Runs Vox Media

The modern online newsroom is a 24/7 operation. It needs power tools to work efficiently, like modern carpenters need electric drills to build houses.?The problem is that most content management systems, including web-native ones like WordPress, Tumblr, etc, are intended for smaller organizations or slower-paced writing.?Which is why I'm so interested in Vox Media's Chorus. The rest of us have been stuck turning screwdrivers. Features from last decade like admin interfaces full of buttons that need to be clicked, as well as heavy metadata entry requirements, static site designs, and weak distribution options. Chorus has evolved to solve these problems, and much more.

Soccer player defects from Cuba, requests asylum in US

Soccer player defects: A Cuban national soccer player disappeared while his team was playing in an Olympic soccer tournament in Tennessee.

Yosmel De Armas is a Cuban soccer player who has defected in order to seek asylum in the United States. While in Nashville, Tennessee last month for an Olympic qualifying soccer tournament, the Cuban midfielder was absent from his national team's final game against Canada, although he played on Saturday?s 4-0 loss to El Salvador.?

When asked why the player skipped the game, the Cuban national coach said De Armas was sick and remained at the team's hotel. However, when the team left Nashville, the promising soccer player did not accompany his teammates on their return trip to the island nation.

Although US officials refused to comment about the player?s whereabouts, it was reported that De Armas was last seen in Miami.?

"We're preparing an asylum application to file with the Department of Homeland Security," attorney Alex Solomiany said, according to Reuters.?

The Miami-based lawyer, who?described his client as "nervous," said De Armas is "alone here"?and that he was on his way to Miami at the time of the game, contrary to the coach's allegations.

A rising number of Cuban athlete defections are explained by several factors: the continuous financial hardship the populace faces in Cuba, the plethora of defection precedents that make the process look easy, and the luring prospects of a better life, all coalesce to urge young athletes to follow this path.?

"This is another case of a Cuban sportsman trying to get a decent life, to try to take control of his own career," Omar Lopez told Reuters.? Lopez is general director of the Cuban American National Foundation, a Miami-based organization of Cuban exiles who seek political change on the island.

Four years ago, seven members of the Cuban under-23 national soccer team also sought political asylum after competing against its US counterpart in Tampa, Florida.?

"Of course, my heart will be in Cuba with my family, but I want to have the freedom to better my life, to play professional soccer, to be the best I can be, and for that we had to make this sacrifice," Yenier Bermudez told the Miami Herald, according to ESPN.

Since the 2002 CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football) tournament in Los Angeles, a total of 15 Cuban soccer players abandoned their teams and requested political asylum in the United States.

HBO Go and Max Go get Android 4.0 phone support, skip tablets for now

Those with Android 4.0 phones like the HTC One X have been left out of watching HBO Go and Max Go on the road so far. New updates to the respective mobile apps take care of that: either premium channel will now stream directly to a phone running Google's latest OS (assuming you're subscribed to pay-TV, that is). Speed-ups and bug fixes are in the upgrades, too. Oddly, Android 4.0 tablets have yet to make the leap, ruling out your Transformer Pad TF300 for catching up on episodes of True Blood.

The Upstates Service and Repair Center!! | Spartanburg Automotive ...

Things are in full swing at Heads Up Motorsports!

Maria took advantage of our free pick up service.? We brought her 2007 Lexus IS250 in for some routine maintenance, including a new set of brake pads and rotors.? If you?re busy, give us a call.? We can arrange to pick your car up, service it, and return it to you while you work!

Billy brought us his 2002 Audi A4.? Recently, the windows and the sunroof stopped working.? This is a common issues with VW and Audi vehicles.? Heads Up Motorsports is the ONLY independent shop in the area that has the capability and tools to properly diagnose and repair VW and Audi cars.? After a scan, it?s apparent that the Central Locking Module is not communicating, and needs to be replaced and reprogrammed.

Jay recently bought this 2003 Audi A6.? Shortly after the purchase, his car started to ?skip? violently.? Jay brought us the car, and we?ve diagnosed it as a failed ignition coil.? This is a simple fix, and the car was running great in no time.? Every time your car is in our shop, we take the time and care to properly inspect it, from bumper to bumper.? In Jays instance, it?s a good thing that we inspected his timing belt.

This the the old timing belt from Jay?s car.? Notice that it?s cracked and worn.? We?ve replaced the timing belt, along with all of the timing components.

Chris? Mercedes SL500 is in the shop.? When the car failed to start, they called us to pick the car up.
